MetaCAM integrates with a host of different CAD systems such as SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor etc. to name a few. MetaCAM besides reading native file format also can read custom properties such as material, thickness, assembly information and grain.
SolidEdge Importer:
SolidEdge Importer is capable of importing SolidEdge assemblies, 3D models and flat files directly into MetaCAM. This is a native importer that does not require SolidEdge to be installed on the same computer. Using the SE importer a user can import an entire assembly where the importer will drill down through the assembly search for relevant sheet metal components and import flat patterns into Nesting. The importer can also read custom properties of the SolidEdge file and automatically tool parts during the import.
SolidWorks Importer:
SolidWorks Importer is capable of importing SolidWorks assemblies, 3D models and flat files directly into MetaCAM. Using the SolidWorks importer a user can import an entire assembly where the importer will drill down through the assembly search for relevant sheet metal components, unfold the sldprt file and import flat patterns into Nesting. The importer can also read custom properties of the SolidWorks file and automatically tool parts during the import.
Autodesk Inventor Importer:
Autodesk Inventor Importer is capable of importing Inventor assemblies and flat files directly into MetaCAM. Using the Inventor importer a user can import an entire assembly where the importer will drill down through the assembly search for relevant sheet metal components and import flat patterns into nesting. The importer can also read custom properties of the Inventor file and automatically tool parts during the import.
IGES Importer:
IGES Importer is capable of importing 2D and 3D IGES files into MetaCAM. In 3D, a special clean up tool can easily remove unwanted surfaces and unfold the 3D model.
DXF & DWG Importer:
DXF & DWG Importer currently supports direct import of DXF files and Autocad release 14 dwg files. The importer passes through an import filter that checks the integrity of the geometry, eliminates duplicate lines, imports text and layer information.
